A Gateway to History
Johanna’s World is a Little Norway, created in memory of the early Norwegian settlers who arrived New Zealand in 1872 and 1873.
JOHANNA'S WORLD is a museum, visitor attraction and a place to stay for a night or more.
Today there are five Norwegian style buildings and a Stave Church. If you are interested in 'migration history, this is the place to visit!
You may purchase the book Johanna's World directly from the author Oystein Andresen and get it signed by him.
Accommodation

TROLLHEIMEN: Back Packers on the ground floor.
A small museum PASOTORPET: Replica of the log cottage from Grue, Norway where Johanna was born in 1855 (the main person in the novel "Johanna's World" who came to Norsewood in 1873). - Also for Back Packers
MARIA STAVKIRKE (Mary's Chapel): This is a replica of one of the ca 1000 Stave Churches built in Norway around 900 years ago, and the first and only one to be built in New Zealand. The Church was blessed and opened on 17th May 2009. You can have your wedding here, in a real Stave Church!
